Apple will expand the capabilities of the iPhone camera (3 photos)
It is likely that the iPhone, released in 2019, will have a main camera, equipped with a system of 3D scanning. The main purpose of additional devices will be improved quality of data transmission to work more effectively with the applications and services of augmented reality. The camera will be installed at a separate laser rangefinder that allows to model 3D objects.
Previously the same function was entrusted to a dual cameras, but the use of an additional laser scanner will enhance the detail of the smartphone space. We can say that the main camera will receive your system TrueDepth, now installed in the iPhone X on the front side and is able to identify the device’s owner using the FaceID. Thus, it is likely that Apple will do what other producers can not — AR-the reality will be more accessible and popular among users. And this, in turn, will serve as a powerful catalyst for developers relevant content.
Currently Apple chooses supplier of such systems, being developed by Infineon Technologies AG, Sony Corp., STMicroelectronics NV, Panasonic Corp. and other less known manufacturers. Also, according to experts, Apple is planning for 2019 release three smartphones in the “frameless” design.
