Last year Apple released new MacBook Pro with touch bar Touch Bar, to control which uses a proprietary chip T1. Now it works regardless of most of the systems of the laptop but in the next generation, the company plans to intensify the integration with ARM CPU and migrate part of the tasks with the aim of increasing autonomy.
What is planned
According to Bloomberg, the new chipset with the codename T310 will be responsible for the function of Power Nap. It allows the computer to check email, sync calendars and to download updates in sleep mode. Even with Intel, she has virtually no impact on battery life, but with the transition to ARM power consumption will decrease even more. Perhaps T310 will appear in the updated MacBook Pro models 2017, though not the fact that Apple will report about this change during the presentation of the laptops.
Last year Consumer Reports experts did not recommend a new MacBook Pro to buy because of the very unstable time of Autonomous work. It was later revealed that the cause of the problem was a bug in the Safari browser. After correcting the laptops lasted from 15 to 19 hours depending on the model, and the organization changed its verdict. Auxiliary ARM chip will improve this result, although the difference will be noticeable more in standby than in active use.
No Intel anywhere
Despite occasional rumors about the transition of the MacBook on ARM, insiders report that at the moment Apple is not going to completely abandon Intel processors in laptops and desktops.
