Because it is convenient

Bridgestone offers to use bikes of the new generation of spokes made of thermoplastic rubber. The unusual design reduces drag while riding, enabling more efficient use of resources, be it battery electric bike or human power. How much can cost “an iron horse” with these wheels — not reported.
Alternatives
The company produces BriTek airless Bicycle wheel design using carbon fiber and Kevlar, but the price is $2500 per item is clearly not designed for the mass market. In 2016 the American startup Nexo North America presented a much more affordable option tire Ever Tires $100 per set. You can install them on a normal bike, whereas in the embodiment of Bridgestone uses a special wheel (but it will be much easier to clean dust and dirt).
