By 2020, Uber plans to start testing a “flying taxi”
Uber the company recently invited journalists to the event “Elevate Summit”, which promised to tell about the prospects in the development of “flying cars”. As it turned out, the company has very serious intentions by 2020 to conduct the first tests of the “flying taxi”.
Representatives from Uber said that their works are not “flying cars”, since, according renderam and the first images that are not cars. The “flying taxi” will be a small electric planes with the ability to accommodate simultaneously up to ten people. Thanks to the use of aircraft speed of delivery of passengers from point a to point b may be reduced from 30 to 5 minutes.
The first tests of “still flying” will be held in the cities of Dubai (UAE) and Dallas (USA). For takeoff and landing aircrafts will be created special areas where they can pick up and drop off passengers. Judging by the presentation of Uber, these platforms can be placed not only on land but also on the roofs of buildings and shopping centers.
“We will be able to liberate the city from harmful emissions, reduce Parking, and most importantly – to give people a convenient and quick way to get to any point of the city,” said Jeff Holden, chief product teams.
If the tests prove successful, flying vehicles from Uber will start to carry people already by 2023. The development of aircraft will be undertaken by partners companies, including Aurora Flight Sciences, Pipistrel Aircraft, and Embraer Mooney.
Recall that the service Uber was launched in the river on 30 March this year.
