Intel Core i9-7980XE – 18-nuclear response to a range of Threadripper from AMD
That Intel is planning to introduce a line of high-performance Intel Core i9, it became known a few weeks ago. Meanwhile, the new batch of leaks revealed that this year the manufacturer is going to play for high stakes: preparing to debut 18-Core Intel Core i9-7980XE that will force developers of AMD 16-core processors Threadripper jittery.
According to VideoCards, the new 18-Core Intel Core i9-7980XE refers to families Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X, which are compatible with motherboards LGA2066 (Intel X299).
In accordance with the information provided, the design requirements for the heat sink model Intel Core i9-7980XE will be around 165 W, which, in turn, requires a liquid cooling system.
