Mobile VR-helmet HTC Link enables complete freedom of action
HTC has shown in Japan unusual virtual reality helmet Link, that uses the resources of a smartphone, but is equipped with its own display and is equipped with a system of tracking movements with a pair of wireless controllers. The gadget has six degrees of freedom, as in more advanced HTC Vive or Oculus Rift.

Semi-detached helmet

HTC Link is connected with a cable to the flagship smartphone HTC U11 (in the list of compatible devices is only corporate device). On the front of the helmet has two glowing marks, one set at the top of the controller. For tracking meets external stereo camera. Powerful Snapdragon 835 to the mobile device is able to process these data in real time and without delay. The picture does not lag behind user actions, allowing long to leave in virtual worlds without feeling any discomfort.
A new helmet is equipped with two 3.6-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution 1200×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. The viewing angle is about 110 degrees. There’s also a 3.5 mm port for headphones (included in the package). The design on the head weighs about 554 grams.

Not a single HTC Vive
The price of HTC Link is not reported. This is not the only project in the segment of mobile VR (the most popular). At the conference Google I/O 2017, it was announced that HTC and Lenovo are preparing helmets for Autonomous platforms Daydream.
