NVIDIA SHIELD now supports 4K TV via Google Cast
Earlier this year NVIDIA introduced the updated set-top box SHIELD TVrunning the Android operating system TV. It received support from streaming content in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second and HDR. Later the same function was added in the original SHIELD TV 2015. Unfortunately, access to 4K content on set-top boxes was very limited because at the start they did not support this resolution in the Google Play Movies & TV and through broadcasts from other devices via Google Cast technology. With the latest firmware update NVIDIA has fixed that.
After installing the latest update, owners of SHIELD TV first and second generation can watch movies in 4K straight from the app Google Play Movies & TV or to stream them from your smartphone, tablet or laptop with the help of technology Google Cast. In addition, the SHIELD TV supports playback of 4K video services like Amazon, Netflix and YouTube.
If the prefix has not installed the latest firmware automatically check for available updates in the settings.
