Overview Full Throttle Remastered — not a soap and not a movie
I can only imagine that the debut of Full Throttle it was as much as 22 years. A lot has happened: the genre of the quest ten times declared dead, tenderly beloved by veterans of LucasArts kicked the bucket, Tim Schafer founded his own Studio and gradually lost credibility… But let’s not about sad. Today our day: as it turned out, the classics are still alive and well — and a great game, despite the considerable by the standards of the industry age.
My iron horse
Isn’t that most important? Polish to a high gloss and return to the stores can be anything, would be a straight arm and have a little faith in yourself. But if the source is expired, and its passage is not a warm smile, but bitter tears, 4K and achievements will not save the situation only worsen. Fortunately, Full Throttle entered the Pantheon of the best quests of all time not for beautiful eyes: it is an evergreen product that is relevant in the mid-90s that now, in the era of free-to-play shooters and three-mobile fun.
To verify this just a laughing matter. Enough to run the game — and everything, farewell reality. No matter whether it is the first acquaintance with the world cool bikes or the tenth, the outcome is always the same: turned on for five minutes in the evening after work, and came out in a few hours, with lots of achievements and a silly grin on my tired face.
It’s hard to say what it is — a great introductory video, in a pleasing music by The Gone Jackals, inspired by the Mad max setting or in history, successfully combining absurd humor and tragedy. However, the secret of success is not as important. Full Throttle, as befits a cool guy, with a big road takes by the lapels and not let go until the very end — which comes, alas, much faster than I would like.
Yes, not without flaws — impact budget, time and ambitions are always soaring in the clouds to the West. But even in their weakest moments (kind of meaningless races a La Road Rash, on crutches), the game will give odds to many competitors — and the then and current. Logical puzzles without the nonsense in the spirit of “take a monkey and turn it falls”, a good story, impeccable style in the spirit of the tapes don Bluth front of us, a masterpiece, which needs to try each. But the tricky question — do we need for this Remastered version?
The smell of the asphalt… and problems
More likely than not to answer otherwise, alas, will not work for several reasons. For example, the technical side reissues as a whole deserves praise: the familiar sprites are redrawn on the conscience (and without vaseline, which is generously arched Day of the Tentacle Remastered) disappeared minor bugs animation, and the sound has noticeably increased in quality. The microscope is not needed — quite a few times to switch from the original image to the new, the difference immediately strikes the eye (and ear, when from the speakers blaring some kind of Legacy).
But only one makeup Double Fine Shiny Shoe and is not limited to — as in the case of Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango, programmers added to the game a couple of useful features especially for neophytes who like to do old. First, progress is now regularly autocorrela. Secondly, in the widescreen version you can highlight active objects, thus reducing the already quite rare pixel-hunting. Third, achievements and trophies here for a reason — even experts may find something new (be it a funny dialogue with a reference to Monkey Island or a secret mini-game). Convenient!
So what’s wrong? Mainly audio feedback — in fact very interesting and informative, but written so that clutching his head. Frankly poor quality sound, poor quality, sometimes fonyaschih microphones (especially in the first scenes), editing “for a living” — even first-time bloggers about their business more responsible than Double Fine. It seems like Tim Schafer with the team gathered in the roadside bathroom, turned on Full Throttle on my laptop, a couple of hours to chat over life, and then transferred the resulting audio track to some lover. Anyhow. The result, to put it mildly, raises questions, considering how carelessly sometimes break phrases and sentences. Even the subtitles, and those canny: that late, then rush ahead. And it’s not talking about typos blush one of the audience.
Not without very strange bugs. For example, during the racing segment in the canyon frame rate per second is not just jump — jumps, and with such force and speed that Ben uneven hour will fall from the motorcycle. And the final titles in the Remastered version somehow, so tend not to seem on the eye: if drawn to read the biker haiku developers, please watch them in low resolution straight out of 1995. Beta testers, ay?
Into the sunset
But all the above are rather slight scratch on the magnificent “Harley”. Yes, it’s a shame that such a work was not rewarded with a perfect remaster, but you can live, the more that gathered, the game is really with the soul. Given the very penny on our times that price on PC, PlayStation 4, skip this resurrection of the classic should not be — after all, Full Throttle has never looked so cool.
