Первый запуск новой ракеты NASA отложен до 2019 года

New heavy rocket Space Launch System (SLS), which NASA wants to send humans to Mars, do not fly until 2019. Due to technical problems the project was delayed for several years and now is the end of 2018, the first launch of SLS will be held in 2019.

Why did this happen?

Back in September of last year, an independent audit of the space program Orion (where SLS is used as the main rocket) showed that SLS will not have time to fly in November 2018. The difficulties associated with a significant excess of budget and complexity of integrating a new spacecraft Orion in the system startup. According to preliminary estimates it will take about 12 months.

Despite the fact that planning even an unmanned flight of the Orion was tense, in February, NASA decided to add the human crew in the first test launch of the SLS. Officially, NASA has previously stated that it will complicate the development of Orion. But it is unknown whether it is this reason the main factor in this significant delay. If the launch is postponed again, SpaceX has all chances to be the first again to fly around the moon in 2020.
