The PC version of Vanquish punishes the lovers of high frame rate

Between players has long been a matter of debate about which fps is better to play. Some believe that 30 fps is perfect and as comfortable as possible value, while others are sure that 60 fps and more is much better and nicer to the eye. We tried to understand the difference between 30 and 60 fps in a special article. For many, especially in e-sports games, high frame rate plays a crucial role. But it turns out that a higher fps can sometimes harm the player. For example, the authors of the PC version of the shooter Vanquish, without knowing it, stood on the side of the fans 30 fps.

The shooter Vanquish was released on personal computers and players have noticed a curious bug. If the game is running at 60 frames per second, the main character receives more damage from enemies, and along with this significantly increases the complexity of the passage.

Below shows a comparison of the same scene at 30 (left) and 60 fps (right):

 Vanquish

In Vanquish there is a regime of time dilation that is triggered when health is low, the main character. If the game frame rate set at 30 fps, the mode is activated 6-7 seconds after receiving continuous enemy attacks. But if the game runs at 60 fps, the mode is activated for only 1-2 seconds.

The reason of this bug is still unknown. It is possible that part of the game mechanics is tied to the framerate. The developers have not commented on the situation.
