Xiaomi preparing a new generation of branded CPU’s Surge
In the past year, there were rumours that Xiaomi is going to start to develop their own mobile processors for their devices. In the beginning of this year was presented to the budget smartphone Xiaomi Mi5C on the basis of eight-processor Surge S1. As it turned out, the power is comparable to the Snapdragon 625 and Helio P20, and in the AnTuTu benchmark the chip is gaining about 60,000 points. According to new information, Xiaomi is already preparing to mass production CPU Surge’s second generation.
As Surge S1, a manufacturer of Surge S2 will be the Taiwanese company TSMC. It is reported that this chipset will be based on 16-nm process. For comparison, the Snapdragon 660, which is a mid-level solution from Qualcomm, made on 14-nm process technology. Thus, Xiaomi is still trying to catch up.
On the characteristics of the Surge S2 is not reported. We only know that mass production will commence in the third quarter of this year. It is possible that the chip will be installed in Xiaomi Mi6C.
