The spyware NSA Intel has learned to turn off
Team Positive Technologies revealed a hidden option to disable Intel ME 11, which allows to get rid of uncontrolled user vulnerabilities and to ensure maximum safety of the content.
Recall that the Intel ME has long been criticized by experts for vulnerability. They observed the attack on the remote management, including cleaning drives, control traffic and supply, changing the BIOS settings and loading a new OS (emulated by USB medium, which you can boot). Methadonemaintenance setting helps to set the bit in one of the firmware files to the activated mode of the HAP (High Assurance Platform), disabling potentially dangerous for the PC subsystems, and protect data at the level of us government agencies. Recall that all the efforts up to this point trying to disable the Intel ME gave only a partial result: a series of initialization processes were tied to the data centers of the manufacturer.
Representatives of Intel, in turn, confirmed that a new option was added at the request of some customers, but has not been fully tested, therefore not officially supported. Now to work with HAP, you need to change the settings in the firmware itself. No additional manipulations are required by the user.
