Japanese car giant Toyota Motor in order to maintain the project of a flying vehicle, developed by engineers of the startup Cartivator, at the same time the workers of the automaker, has decided to Fund the development for a total amount of 40 million yen (about $350 thousand). Finished full-size prototype, the investor expects to receive in 2019.
Opened in 2012, the startup has developed exclusively thanks to the enthusiasm of the founder Cartivator – Tsubasa Nakamura and his 30 associates, and was funded through crowdfunding. Their development is positioned as the most compact flying vehicle in the world (length – 2900 mm, width – 1300 mm). The machine is equipped with three wheels, four rotary engines with twin propellers 8. Engines placed on the perimeter and can raise the car for 10 meters above the ground and reach the speed of 100 km/h. Means that the technique will be able to move on the roads like a regular car, reaching speeds of 150 km/h.
Plans Cartivator by the end of 2018 to release the first experimental sample, and 2019 to carry out a test flight with the man at the helm. Toyota, being the official mobile partner of the Tokyo Olympics 2020, expects the “flying machine” to effectively light the Olympic flame at the opening ceremony.
