New patent of Google, the contents of which appeared in the open publication proposes a new system of control gadgets at a distance. The basis of the patent is the technology of recognition of “spatial gestures to control devices of all kinds”. The uniqueness of the proposed invention is the ability to recognize intuitive gestures and assigning them to various teams, selected by the user.
The patent, entitled “Interaction of device with a known spatial gestures” describes methodology enabling gadgets to recognize and remember the various gestures. Users can assign gestures a lot of intuitive commands. For example, if you want to turn off the smartphone in a certain gesture made with two fingers, you only need to show the movement of “smart” smartphone and assign a gesture to “turn Off the smartphone”.
Thus, the patent allows you to create a new input device based on gestures. Now you can, without giving the voice command “OK Google, turn on the light in my living room”, just wave your fingers around the device a specific, pre-assigned way, and the device will give a command to enable light.
Soli Project of Google is intended to create a control system without the use of screens. Development is conducted from late spring 2015.
The project is open for developers, and Google’s continued research. The proposed technology along with management augmented reality and the rejection of physical buttons can lead to non-touch screens. This, of course, a matter of the distant future, but the basics of the technology Google is developing today.
