Android 13 gets a wide rollout for Galaxy A23 5G in the US

Samsung has released the Android 13 update for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy A23 5G in the US. The big Android update for these phones comes more than a month after their factory-unlocked counterparts picked it up. International models gained the new Android version more than two months ago.

The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for carrier-locked Galaxy A23 5G in the US is rolling out with the firmware build number A236USQS1BWA2 (via). The rollout began recently for users on T-Mobile’s networks, including those using its prepaid wireless service Metro.

Users on the remaining few carriers should also get the big Android update soon. As usual, you can check for updates by navigating to Settings > Software update > Download and install. If you don’t see any OTA (over the air) updates today, wait a few days and check again.

This release comes bundled with last month’s Android security patch. Samsung and Google patched more than 70 vulnerabilities with the January 2023 SMR (Security Maintenance Release) for Galaxy devices.

The Korean firm has already released the February SMR with 50-odd new vulnerability fixes. The new release has reached a handful of Galaxy devices. But the Galaxy A23 5G isn’t getting that just yet. Perhaps it may never get the February security patch because the device is only eligible for quarterly updates. It will miss out on a few releases.

Nonetheless, Galaxy A23 5G users have plenty of goodies to look forward to in the latest update. After all, it brings Android 13 and Samsung’s One UI 5.0 custom software. The company has refreshed its UI and made system animations smoother with the new One UI version. It has also added new customization options so you can make your phone even more personal.

There are tons of new features and improvements as well, along with improved privacy and security. If you’re using this phone, install the latest update and start exploring the goodies.

Samsung recently fixed a major problem with the Galaxy A23 5G

The Galaxy A23 5G debuted in August last year and had a “major problem” out of the box. Samsung never detailed the root issue but said it affected several components in the device. It took the Korean firm over a month, and help from various industry partners, to fix the problem. The troubles mean Samsung has decided to cut production of the Galaxy A23 5G. Hopefully, the problem is gone once and for all in devices that have already reached consumers.
