AT&T Explains Bizarre Samsung Galaxy View 2, AKA ‘Mobile TV’ Concept

The Samsung Galaxy View 2 images were posted by SamMobile yesterday, and now AT&T has revealed the device, pretty much. AT&T posted a new video on its YouTube channel, and that video not only shows off the Galaxy View 2 from a number of angles, but it also reveals some of its features and specifications, as this is basically a promo video for the tablet.

The company did not really reveal the pricing of this tablet in this video, nor all the details, but you’ll notice that quite a few details have been revealed. The aforementioned video has a duration of over two minutes, and it is embedded down below, in case you’d like to check it out.

AT&T describes the Galaxy View 2 as a 4G LTE-connected mobile TV in this promo video. The second-gen Galaxy View will have a smaller display than its predecessor, not by much, though. The original featured an 18.4-inch panel, while the Galaxy View 2 will ship with a 17.3-inch fullHD display.

This video reveals that the Galaxy View 2 will ship with a dedicated TV Mode, which will let you access DirecTV Now, which, as many of you know, is AT&T’s online streaming service. The company also mentions that the Galaxy View 2 sports quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, and that it can be used in tablet mode by collapsing the kickstand.

AT&T’s NumberSync service is also promoted in this video, as the Galaxy View 2 supports it, as it is HD voice-enabled, like many smartphones out there. Both voice and AT&T video call options will be available on the Galaxy View 2, notes the company.

As far as specs are concerned, this video confirms that the tablet will ship with a 12,000mAh battery, while it will include 64GB of storage. The Galaxy View 2’s storage will be expandable via a microSD card, as you will be able to cram extra 400GB of storage in there that way, though do note that a microSD card will not be included with the tablet.

That is pretty much all the info that the company mentioned in this video, but the device will probably be fueled by the Samsung Exynos 7885 64-bit octa-core processor, at least according to a Geekbench listing that surfaced a while back. This is Samsung’s mid-range processor, and should be more than enough for the Galaxy View 2 to handle whatever you throw at it.

The device will probably include 3GB of RAM as well, which is something that has been mentioned in the previous benchmark as well. You can expect to see Android 9 Pie out of the box here, with Samsung’s custom UI on top of it, of course.

It is worth noting that AT&T the first-gen Galaxy View was launched on AT&T, so it’s not a surprise that the Galaxy View 2 will be as well. AT&T will probably release more info about the tablet soon, including its detailed spec sheet, and availability information, with pricing included. Considering that this video is already live, we’re probably extremely close to an official launch of this gigantic tablet.
