Based On New Samsung Ads, Expect The Galaxy S10 To Come With These Features

Samsung (via its Vietnam arm) recently released several short video clips on YouTube that seemingly confirm several features of the tech giant’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S10. The company uploaded three videos with each video lasting around 7 seconds.

The first video alludes to the Galaxy S10’s reverse wireless charging capabilities. Reports on this feature first appeared late last month after a flyer for the smartphone surfaced in South Korea. Rumors indicate that Samsung will brand the functionality as Powershare. This feature, which will use the ubiquitous Qi wireless charging standard, will allow people to charge accessories and other devices like smartwatches through the smartphone.

The second video highlights the improved stabilization offered by the handset’s front-facing camera, which Samsung claims will result in reduced shaking when capturing 4K video. While the promotional material did not specify how Samsung achieve enhanced video stabilization, recent rumors suggest that the Galaxy S10’s front-facing camera will feature optical image stabilization (OIS). OIS physically moves the lens or the sensor to compensate for the vibrations while capturing an image or recording a video. Furthermore, earlier reports also claimed that the front-facing camera will have a 10-megapixel sensor – offering enough support for the capturing of videos with 4K resolution.

The third video largely points to the inclusion of an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication on the Galaxy S10. Interestingly, recent reports and leaked renders suggested that not all Galaxy S10-branded devices will have an under-display fingerprint reader, with the cheapest handset in the lineup, the Galaxy S10e, sporting a side-mounted fingerprint scanner instead.

As the launch of the Galaxy S10 draws near, Samsung will release more promotional materials that highlight the functionalities and specifications of its upcoming flagship offerings, which should confirm many of the rumors surrounding the feature set of the devices. Samsung is expected to launch at least four Galaxy S10-branded handsets, namely the Galaxy S10e, the Galaxy S10, the Galaxy S10+, and a 5G-capable model of the Galaxy S10+. All these handsets will feature the same chipsets, the Snapdragon 855 for variants sold in select regions and the Exynos 9820 for models sold elsewhere.

The four devices primarily differ in terms of display sizes, RAM and internal storage capacities, as well as the number of cameras. Recent reports show that the Galaxy S10e will feature a 5.8-inch flat display, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and one front-facing camera, while the Galaxy S10 will sport a 6.1-inch curved display, either 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 128GB/256GB of flash storage and a single selfie shooter.

The Galaxy S10+ will reportedly ship with a 6.4-inch display and two front cameras, although the 5G-capable model will ship with a ceramic back, 12GB of RAM and 1TB of internal flash storage. In contrast, the LTE-only version of the Galaxy S10+ will include either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage.

Samsung will most likely unveil at least three Galaxy S10 devices at an event that will take place on February 20th, just ahead of the official start of MWC 2019.
