Early Galaxy S10 & Huawei P30 Cases Appear, With Fake Dummy Models

Several case makers posted on Linkedin images of silicone cases designed for the upcoming flagship smartphone lineups of the two largest handset makers in the world, Samsung and Huawei. An image posted on LinkedIn, and compiled by industry insider Roland Quandt, shows the cases designed for the three hardware variants of the Samsung Galaxy S10, namely the Galaxy S10 Lite, the Galaxy S10 Edge, and the Galaxy S10 Plus. The silicone cases of the three devices differ in several characteristics, which include overall dimensions and the size of the cutout for the rear cameras. The case for the Galaxy S10 Plus sports the largest dimensions out of the three accessories, followed by the accessories designed for the Galaxy S10 Edge and the Galaxy S10 Lite, respectively. On the other hand, the case for the Galaxy S10 Lite has a significantly smaller rear cutout, which will accommodate a horizontally-arranged dual-rear camera setup, while larger cutout of the Galaxy S10 Edge and the Galaxy S10 Plus cases will host the devices’ rumored three rear-facing cameras. The silicone cases also include cutouts for the USB Type-C port, loudspeaker, and the 3.5-millimeter headphone jack at the bottom.

Accessory makers have also posted images of silicone cases designed for the Huawei P30 and the P30 Pro. The cases for both devices include a vertical cutout at the upper left-hand corner of the rear panel. Some of the cases for the Huawei P30 include a separate oval-shaped hole that will house the LED, while in other designs, a longer vertical cutout accommodates the LED flash. Meanwhile, the case for the P30 Pro includes another elongated cutout beside the rear cameras which will accommodate the handset’s double flash setup.

Background: Numerous leaks have already supplied details about the design of the Galaxy S10. Recent leaks show that the Galaxy S10 variants will no longer use rear-facing fingerprint sensors. Instead, the Galaxy S10 Edge and the Galaxy S10 Plus will sport in-display fingerprint sensors, while the Galaxy S10 Lite will include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, likely to reduce production costs. The three handsets will use displays with a 19:9 aspect ratio, although there are differences in the display sizes used by the devices. Rumors say that the Galaxy S10 Lite will have a 5.8-inch panel while the Galaxy S10 Edge and the Galaxy S10 Plus will have 6.1-inch and 6.4-inch displays, respectively.

On the other hand, there is limited information available about the design or specifications of the Huawei P30, although recent reports say that the Huawei P30 Pro will feature a quad-camera setup at the back of the handset. Furthermore, recent reports say that the Huawei P30 will sport the Kirin 980 chipset, which offers up to 20-percent performance improvement and a 40-percent improvement in power efficiency compared to the Kirin 970 SoC found in the Huawei P20.

Impact: Consumers should expect that more information about the future flagships of Samsung Electronics and Huawei will appear in the next few months as the launch of the handsets near. According to recent reports, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S10 handsets at the Mobile World Congress 2019 event in Barcelona, while Huawei will announce the Huawei P30 series next spring.
