Galaxy S23 trio appear in dummy units to reveal size difference

Samsung‘s upcoming Galaxy S23 series has appeared in another set of dummy units. The newly leaked imagery gives us an idea of the size difference between the three models ahead of their launch early next month. It also confirms the design of the new Samsung flagships.

The latest Galaxy S23 leak shows alleged dummy units of the three models next to one another. The devices are kept face (screen) down, revealing the rear design in full. We can see the redesigned camera array (only for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+) where each sensor protrudes out of the rear panel individually. The contour-cut island that extended from the device’s frame is no longer there. Of course, the Galaxy S22 Ultra already had this design last year, so things remain largely unchanged for the Ultra model.

That said, it isn’t a copy-paste either. The external camera circles on the Galaxy S23 Ultra are bigger than that on the 2022 model. Samsung has also moved the power and volume buttons down a little. This should make those keys more reachable. As for the camera specs, this phone is upgrading to a 200MP primary shooter from a 108MP unit. But the rest of the rear cameras are unchanged. At least in terms of resolution. We are still expecting substantial improvement in the image quality from last year.

The Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+ will also have the same camera combo as the 2022 models. They aren’t getting an upgrade for the primary shooter either. Samsung is switching to a 12MP selfie camera across the lineup, though. The vanilla Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ shipped with a 10MP selfie shooter, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra featured a 40MP unit. It may seem like a massive selfie camera downgrade for the Ultra model this year, but let us remind you again that camera resolution is never a true measure of photo quality.

The Galaxy S23 series is just three weeks away now

Samsung’s 2023 flagships are almost here. The company yesterday confirmed that the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra will break cover on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. The launch event, which will be the Korean behemoth’s first major in-person event since the Galaxy S20 launch in early 2020, is just three weeks away now. In the meantime, we expect to see plenty of leaks about the devices as they pass through Samsung’s supply chains globally. We will keep you posted accordingly.
