Google Play Is Now Offering Disney Movies In 4K, Including Avengers

Got a 4K TV or a 4K monitor hooked up to your PC? Are you a fan of Disney and love the Marvel movies? Then you’re in luck if you happen to purchase movies on Google Play from time to time as Google is now offering a collection of Disney films, including the first three movies in the Avengers saga in 4K resolution on Play Movies and TV to perfectly complement the screen with you’ll be watching them on.

There are a handful of different Disney films available in this new 4K format, but to name a few you’ll find Avengers, Avengers Age of Ultron, and Avengers Infinity War. Technically Avengers Endgame is also available in 4K to purchase but since it hasn’t released yet on the platform it’s still a pre-order and can’t be watched like the other three.

Avengers Endgame is slated for availability on Google Play on July 30 so this is when you’ll actually be able to watch it. In addition to these MCU hits, other Marvel movies such as Captain Marvel and Black Panther are also available in 4K options as is Spider-Man: Homecoming, alongside 4K options for the animated version of the Lion King, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Coco, and A Wrinkle In Time.

These are just the first set of films from Disney’s library of movies that will be available in 4K resolution and more will be available on Google Play in the future. There’s no mention of which movies those will be other than Avengers Endgame, so if you’re a Disney fanatic you may just want to keep an eye out for any new ones that pop up and grab them accordingly.

Google does also have a tendency to announce these sorts of things so there may be an updated list of them at some point too, and the upcoming Lion King live action is a good bet once it leaves theaters and makes its way to digital platforms.

While the only Marvel movies available in 4K are the ones listed above so far, it’s quite possible that the rest of the films in the entire MCU lineup since Iron Man will eventually make it to Google Play Movies and TV in 4K at some point. Keep in mind this is only a possibility and not one that has been confirmed by Disney nor Google so you may just have to stick with HD and SD options for these other Marvel films.

This is also only in regards to Disney-owned Marvel films, as movies like Venom which is a Fox property are already available on Google Play to purchase in 4K resolution. Naturally, since these are through Google Play Movies & TV, if you want to watch them on your TV you will need to have a supported device hooked up to it like a Chromecast Ultra or an Android TV box that supports 4K.

Additionally you could plug the Chromecast Ultra into a 4K monitor, or watch the films on your 4K TV if it has Play Movies & TV baked into it through the Android TV platform.
