Hatch And Sprint Unleash Cloud Gaming For 5G Smartphones

Hatch and Sprint are unleashing cloud gaming on the Sprint 5G network. If you’re a mobile gamer and you subscribe to Sprint service, this is a big deal.

Of course there are caveats. You will need to be in a 5G covered area of Sprint’s network. You will also need to have a 5G-compatible phone to take advantage of the Hatch Premium service.

Luckily for some Sprint customers the carrier just expanded its 5G coverage to new cities, and it just launched the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. If you’re in need of a good device for gaming, that’s a solid option.

Only A Few Devices Have Access

Right now there are only a few different devices that Hatch Premium will be available on. In addition to the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G, the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and the LG V50 ThinQ 5G will be compatible.

While the list isn’t too expansive just yet, more devices will be coming. Both Hatch and Sprint are making the barrier of entry extremely low too, as the service app will be pre-installed on devices that support it. Meaning all you’ll have to do is open it up and pick a game to play.

In addition to pre-installing the app on phones Hatch is giving away subscriptions at no cost. If you purchase one of the compatible devices, Hatch Premium is free for the first three months.

Afterwards it will cost $7.99 per month per line, so it’s definitely worth checking out for free while it’s offered.

Hatch Premium Offers Mobile Games

An important distinction to make is that Hatch Premium offers access to mobile games. While some games are available on other platforms, like Crashlands which is on Steam, Hatch Premium is not for PC or console games.

Users will want to familiarize themselves with that fact before they end up subscribing.

Since the first three months will be free if you have a compatible phone though, it’s a good testing ground for deciding whether or not to keep it after the trial period.

Aside from Crashlands Hatch Premium opens up access to games like Monument Valley and Chameleon Run. All told there are over 100 titles currently included.

Since this is cloud gaming, all games are played over the 5G connection and don’t have to be downloaded. So while the service might only offer up mobile games, you won’t have to take up space on your device to play them.
