While most of us use Google Assistant as our preferred digital assistant on all of our devices, there are some that prefer a different assistant. Whether that be Samsung’s own Bixby, or even the Amazon Alexa assistant through the Alexa app. Luckily, Samsung makes it easy to change the default assistant from Google Assistant to something else, on the Galaxy S21.
That’s one thing that Android really gets right. Allowing users to have choice, and choose which services they want to use as a default action on their smartphones. And today, we are going to show you how to switch up your default digital assistant on the Galaxy S21.
While the Galaxy S21 ships by default with the Google Assistant as its default digital assistant, you can change it to Bixby, or even Amazon Alexa if you download the Alexa app. And here’s how you can do it.
Swipe down the notification shade and tap on the settings icon in the upper-right hand corner. or open the app drawer and tap on settings.
Then scroll down to “Apps” and tap on that.
Now tap on “Choose Default Apps” option at the top of the page.
Tap on “Digital assistant app”, this should be the third option on this page.
Now, tap on the “Phone assistant app” option here. Do not tap on the gear icon next to it – that will bring you to that assistant’s settings.
From here, you can choose to turn off the digital assistant app, or use Bixby Voice, Finder, Google Assistant or Samsung Internet. If you download other apps like Amazon Alexa.
And that’s it. That’s how easy it is to change up the default digital assistant app on the Galaxy S21, though everyone should use Google Assistant.
