Huawei Mate 20 Pro Leaks Yet Again In Official Press Renders

Huawei is all set to announce a pair of high-end Android smartphones under its Mate series next month and both of them have been subjected to a ton of leaks so far. The higher-end smartphone of the two, the Mate 20 Pro, has leaked once again, this time in the form of official press renders that give a better look at the handset’s design that appears to be in line with previous leaks. The Huawei Mate 20 series is easily identifiable with its rear-placed square camera housing that includes three imaging sensors along with an LED flash and this design choice can also be seen in today’s leak. Leica branding is placed right above the camera housing, denoting a partnership that was previously witnessed earlier this year when the P20 Pro was revealed.

A total of three color options for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro’s back have been showcased in these images, that include Black, Blue, and Twilight which appears to have a gradient hue, similar to the one found on the P20 Pro. Notably, there is no capacitive fingerprint scanner to be found on the phone’s back and the Chinese company may choose to go for an in-display solution or may even skip it altogether. This is a possibility since the smartphone is rumored to include an advanced facial recognition system inside its rather large display notch, much like Face ID found on the Apple iPhone X. However, the company is expected to reserve the new facial scanner for the Pro variant while the non-Pro Mate 20 will have a rear-placed fingerprint scanner besides including a significantly smaller display cutout.

The report further adds that Huawei has made significant improvements to its triple-camera implementation since the launch of the P20 Pro and they all will be a part of the Mate 20 Pro. Beside the Leica branding, an aperture of f/1.8 to f/2.4 is mentioned along with a focal length of 16 to 80mm. As of now, these are just vague numbers and the exact specifications for each camera sensor haven’t been detailed yet. Although, the phone is said to offer a 5x optical zoom right out of the box. The company will be unveiling the newest Mate 20-series smartphones powered by its in-house Kirin 980 chipset at an event scheduled for October 16 in London.
