KONAMI Drops Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night On Android

Few games if any in the Castlevania series are as popular and iconic as Symphony of The Night, and now players on Android can more easily play this game whenever they like as KONAMI just released it for mobile devices.

This is also a premium offering. With absolutely no in-game micro transactions or ads to deal with. You simply buy the game for $2.99 and that’s it. The game is yours for all eternity and you can play it as much as you want.

Castlevania: Symphony of The Night seems to be compatible with a wide variety of Android devices, though there is a note that KONAMI makes, stating that players on the Pixel 4 or Pixel 4 XL will want (need?) to turn of the Smooth Display feature.

Castlevania: Symphony of The Night on Android supports gamepads

While the onscreen touch controls look to be pretty promising, the game still has support for physical controllers if you wish to use them.

There are no specific controllers mentioned in a support list. But the Google Play description does mention that the game is “fully compatible with controllers.” So the suggestion is that if it can connect to an Android device, it’ll probably work.

Keep in mind that this is no guarantee that there won’t be a controller that is compatible. You may still run across this issue and if you do, your options are to either hope for support to be added, get a different controller, or use the touch controls.

You can unlock achievements

If you’re an achievement hunter in your games then you’ll be pleased to know that this game offers that.

You can unlock achievements with “hard fought battle milestones,” according to the game’s description on Google Play. There’s also a new continue feature available in the game. Though KONAMI doesn’t go into too much detail on how that works.

Other than those new features, the game is more or less the same as the original. So it’s a pretty faithful adaption of the PS1 classic.

As game ports go it also seems to be getting some pretty high praise from other users. Ports of older games can be rather hit or miss. Even from publishers you might expect to put out a nearly flawless product.

Chrono Trigger is one such example as when it originally launched on Android years ago many people weren’t happy with the port. For what it’s worth, KONAMI seems to have done a good job here. So if you’re a Castlevania fan, snag this for a few dollars and have some fun.
