Leaked Galaxy S9 Camera Components Show Single/Dual Sensors

Leaked Galaxy S9 camera components show single and dual sensors for the rear cameras on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, seemingly confirming that past rumors of Samsung offering a slightly different camera experience on both phones are true. In the leaked image, all that’s visible are two camera modules – one with two camera sensors, and one with a single camera sensor, both modules accompanied by an LED flash, heart rate sensors, and the fingerprint sensor that sits below the camera sensors like in many of the previously leaked renders of the phones.

Though the image doesn’t how the backs of the phones along with the camera setup, it’s not unlikely that an image showing the full back will pop up soon enough. Earlier this morning, an image leaked showing both phones off from the front, which suggests that an image showing the backside of both phones will be surfacing before long.

Now that it’s seemingly confirmed the Galaxy S9 will come with just one camera sensor while the Galaxy S9+ comes with two, it’s worth reiterating that the Galaxy S9+ will not be Samsung’s first phone with a dual rear camera setup, as the Galaxy Note 8 launched with two rear cameras last Fall. It will however be the first phone the Galaxy S line to feature dual rear cameras, and more than that Samsung seems to have some other special stuff planned for both phones, hinting on its invite for the Mobile World Congress Galaxy Unpacked press conference that the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will re-imagine the camera. Samsung hasn’t shed any light on this detail just yet but current rumors point to both phones featuring a super slow-mo video capture option at 480 frames per second. It’s also likely that Samsung has focused on the camera software with both new phones and that other notable features will be present, though there have yet to be any rumors or hints alluding to what these features might be. Re-imagining the camera though, suggests that the features will be attention-grabbing and that the phones will offer really high-quality pictures and video. Samsung will be unveiling the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ towards the end of next month on February 25th.
