Listen To The World’s Top Tracks With Global Charts In YouTube Music

Whether we wanted it or not, YouTube Music will soon be the replacement for Google Music and although not all of the features of GPM made the transition, Google is adding new features to the service, such as Global Charts.

Global Charts is Google’s new way for you to discover, stream, and enjoy songs from all around the world.

Top lists in YouTube Music are certainly nothing new. But the new Global Charts feature in YouTube Music allows for an easy way to discover globally-recognized top tracks. Not just top tracks from the country you’re in.

Global Charts is a first for YouTube Music

This is the first time ever that YouTube Music has implemented the capability for users to discover new tracks from YouTube’s global charts lists.

It’s a feature that Google has been utilizing in YouTube for some time. And now you can have that globally surfaced content for your music too. The global Charts lists will surface top tracks from 57 different countries around the world.

There are also sub-categories for each country that’s supported on the Global Charts. This includes top songs, top artists, music videos, genres, and trending. The first three are rather obvious. As they’ll showcase the top songs, artists, and music videos on YouTube.

Meanwhile the genres section lists off top videos across all major genres on YouTube. Lastly there’s the trending which is also quite obvious in what it offers – music that’s currently new and popular across YouTube.

You can find the new feature in the Explore Tab

As for finding the Global Charts feature, you’d be forgiven for not knowing exactly where it is.

Especially if you’re not used to the app or the charts feature at all. Once you launch the app, head to the Explore Tab and then at the top of the screen you’ll find Charts.

If you tap on that it’ll take you to the top charts for your country. Tap the country and then you’ll immediately see the option to switch to global.

Alternatively you can also see every single one of the 57 countries individually and switch to those. Global is a much broader category. So if you’re really trying to branch out and discover new music that you’ve never heard before, this is perfect.

If you want things to be a bit more localized, then the individual countries are the charts you’ll want to look at. The new feature is already live and has started rolling out to users as of today.
