Much-Hyped LG Velvet Will Come To Life On May 7: Official
The LG Velvet will become official on May 7. The company has announced that information via its official LG Korea Instagram and YouTube profiles. The company released a short teaser video in which is clearly announces the launch date of this phone.
You can see the video below the article, as it has been embedded. The video itself has a duration of 15 seconds, and it teases the raindrop camera design on the back of the LG Velvet.
That’s pretty much everything you get to see in this short video clip, aside from the launch date. The launch date is mentioned at the very end of this teaser video, by the way.
LG had released several press releases and teasers for the LG Velvet thus far. The company is hyping up this phone, as it will feature a new design direction for the company.
The LG Velvet will launch on May 7 with ‘raindrop’ camera design & symmetrical design
LG talked about its symmetrical design, ‘raindrop’ camera design on the back, and much more. The company has also confirmed that the phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 765 SoC.
That means that this ‘premium’ phone will be fueled by a mid-range processor. That may seem like an odd decision, but the Snapdragon 765 is much more affordable than the Snapdragon 865. It will also offer 5G connectivity, though.
The Snapdragon 765 is nothing to scoff at, quite the contrary. Still, if LG plans to market the LG Velvet as a premium smartphone, a flagship-grade phone, it kind of seems it should have a flagship processor.
We’ll see what are LG’s plans regarding that, but considering its promotional materials thus far, this will be marketed as a premium phone. It will be interesting to see how much will it cost, considering everything.
The LG Velvet will be made out of metal and glass and the ‘raindrop’ camera setup on the back will align camera sensors from the largest, to the smallest. This alignment will occur from top to bottom, respectively.
The phone will include a 3.5mm headphone jack
The phone is also expected to offer a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is not something we’re seeing on many phones these days. The LG Velvet will become official on May 7, in Korea.
The press event, which will be online-only, will start at 10 AM Korea time. That translates to 9 PM EST (May 6), and 6 PM PST (May 6). We’re not sure if the event will be in Korean, but chances are it will.
The company announced this launch date on its LG Korea social media channels, which points in the Korean language announcement. The global launch of the phone will probably occur separately.
