New Pixel 6 Leak Claims Full Specs & 5 Years Of Software Updates

A new specs leak for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro has arrived, claiming to be the full specs sheet for the two upcoming devices and, leaving nothing to the imagination. If the full specs for the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro happen to be accurate, than Google could have an exciting set of devices on its hands.

The leak comes from John Prosser of Front Page Tech, which previously leaked images of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro alongside Google’s upcoming Pixel Smartwatch. Having said that, take the information with a grain of salt as these are just rumors. And nothing has yet been officially confirmed by Google.

The full specs for the Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro suggest a huge camera upgrade

For years, in fact for every single generation of the Pixel phone, Google has stuck with basically the same camera. A 12MP sensor for the main rear camera. This time around both phones are rumored to be getting a big upgrade here.

According to the leak, Google will be using a 50MP camera on both devices. It will be a wide angle lens. Both will also feature a 12MP ultra wide angle lens for the sweeping panoramic shots.

Meanwhile the third camera on the Pro will be a 48MP telephoto lens. If this is true, these should take some pretty good photos given how good Google’s camera software is for its Pixel devices.

The front cameras will differ slightly, with the Pixel 6 carrying an 8MP front camera while the Pixel 6 Pro bumps things up to a 12MP sensor.

Both phones will use Google’s in-house processor

Though not necessarily a complete revelation as it’s been rumored before, the leak also suggests both phones will use Google’s in-house processors. These would be the first phones to do so.

When it comes to the screens, there’s said to be a 6.4-inch AMOLED display for the Pixel 6 and a 6.7-inch Plastic OLED display for the Pixel 6 Pro.

Both will come with different RAM and storage options, and slightly different batteries. For the batteries, Google may be going with a smaller capacity battery of 4,614mAh for the Pixel 6. Meanwhile the Pixel 6 Pro will get a 5,000mAh battery.

For storage, both phones will have options for 128GB and 256GB, but the Pixel 6 Pro gets an additional option of 512GB. Both also have different RAM. You’ll get 8GB on the Pixel 6, but 12GB if you opt for the Pixel 6 Pro.

Lastly, Prosser says that Google is looking at “at least” 5 years of software updates for each device. Again, none of this has been confirmed yet, so take things with a grain of salt. But Google’s new phones are shaping up to be interesting if these are correct.
