New Pokémon Masters Trailer Shows Off Sync Moves & More Gameplay

The Pokémon Company and DeNA released a new trailer yesterday that shows off some more gameplay for the upcoming mobile title, including the Sync Moves, a special ability that players will have that allows them to sync moves together from both their own Pokémon as well as the Pokémon from the trainers they’re pairing up with.

If you’re unfamiliar with Pokémon Masters it’s described as a real-time strategy and battling game that allows you to take on trainers from across the Pokémon universe, meaning characters from multiple Pokémon games, and you’ll be battling it out against them in 3v3 team combat to become the champion trainer.

The trailer gives a good look at more of the game’s graphics and character designs up close, but it also shows off a few seconds of co-op battles. If you were hoping there would be some form of social gameplay, here it is. You’ll be able to team up with your friends in Co-op battles to take on teams of AI opponents, allowing you ample time to not only have fun playing games with your friends but also practice your skills, sync moves and unity attacks which are large, powerful attacks that combine the powers of all three Pokémon on the team into one super ability.

Co-Op play will also allow you to team up with other players from around the globe, so if none of your friends are actually online playing at the same time you can still pair up to take down your opponents.

In addition to the details in the trailer Pokémon Masters will allow players to collect special suits called Sygna Suits that when worn by the trainer will swap out the Pokémon that’s being used for one that matches the suit to synchronize abilities. The Sygna Suits aren’t shown off in the trailer but The Pokémon Company does explain partially what players can expect, stating that when someone like Brock puts on his Sygna Suit he will pair up with Tyranitar instead of Onyx which is his normal partner Pokémon.

Players can expect Pokémon Masters to launch sometime this Summer, though The Pokémon Company has been pretty quiet on exact details when it comes to the release. Pokémon Masters isn’t yet available for pre-registration on Google Play either, so there’s a chance that it may be getting released later on in the Summer as opposed to sooner, as pre-registration usually means that a launch is close by.

Your goal in this game is to become the champion of the Pokémon Masters League, and to do that you’ll need to battle other trainers who are entering the league as well. Defeating your opponents in battle will earn you badges and get you one step closer to winning the championship tournament.

When you think of the game’s details from a broad perspective, the overall theme is pretty much the same; become the best trainer by defeating all the others. And, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, a term that The Pokémon Company seems to take to heart here as instead of changing the entire game’s theme it has simply decided to amp it up and put a new spin on things.
