OnePlus is releasing OxygenOS Open Beta updates for the OnePlus 6 at a really fast pace, the OxygenOS Open Beta 3 is already here, days after the second one popped up. The changelog for this update is not exactly tiny, though it mostly consists out of various fixes, even though OnePlus did include some new features in this update. In case you’re unaware, this update is based on Android 9 Pie, as were the first two Open Beta updates for the device that were released recently.
This new update fixes stability issues with the ambient display on the OnePlus 6, while it also improves stability for face unlock and the phone’s fingerprint scanner. The company has added support to launch Google Assistant or third-party assistant app by holding down the power button for 0.5 seconds, which solves that problem if you’re using the company’s navigation gestures, for example, and such a feature has been highly-requested by OnePlus users for a while now. As far as parallel apps feature is concerned, OnePlus has added support for quite a few additional apps with this update, including Telegram, Discord, IMO, Uber, and OLA.
The OnePlus Switch app got updated via this system update as well, to version 2.1.0. In this update, the company added a manual connection method to the app if its unable to connect with QR code. On top of that, backup and recovery are now supported for application data including the home screen, lock screen, and app layout. On top of all that, the company has also rolled out a number of bug fixes and support for more Android models, as far as OnePlus Switch is concerned. That is pretty much it as far as this update goes, though OnePlus did highlight some issues that still persist, the company says that some applications may not function as expected, while Google Pay is still not working.
