Phone Comparisons: OnePlus 11 vs OnePlus 10 Pro

The OnePlus 11 launched quite recently, and some of you may be wondering if it’s worth upgrading to. In this article, we’ll compare the OnePlus 11 vs OnePlus 10 Pro. In other words, we’re comparing it to its predecessor. There’s actually a lot to talk about here. The two phones do look quite similar, but they are different in a number of ways. Some of you may even consider ditching the OnePlus 10 Pro to take advantage of the OnePlus 11’s great price tag, at least as far as the US is concerned.

We’ll first list the specifications of both phones, and will then compare them across a number of categories, as we usually do. We’ll compare their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio performance. Having said that, let’s get started, shall we?

OnePlus 11 vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Design

The OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 10 Pro do look very similar. The main differentiating point is the rear camera island. On the OnePlus 11, it has a round shape, while it’s square-ish on the OnePlus 10 Pro. Both phones include three cameras inside that camera island, along with Hasselblad’s branding and expertise. You will notice that both phones have curved displays, with thin bezels.

A display camera hole sits in the top-left corner on both of those displays. An alert slider is present on both devices, after it was removed from the OnePlus 10T, which launched in between these two phones. Both devices are made out of metal and glass. In fact, they both have the same glass protection on the back, the Gorilla Glass 5. We’ll talk about the front panel in the ‘Display’ section.

The two phones are almost the same in terms of height, width, and thickness. They’re actually both kinda large, which is not surprising considering that they have large displays. The OnePlus 11 is slightly heavier at 205 grams, while the OnePlus 10 Pro weighs 201 grams. The in-hand feel is also quite similar between the two, to be quite honest. They’re both quite slippery, and are not exactly made for one-handed usage.

The OnePlus 11 comes with IP64 certification in all markets, while the OnePlus 10 Pro offers official IP68 certification, but only in the US (T-Mobile). You do get some piece of mind here, on both phones.

OnePlus 11 vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Display

Looks-wise, these two phones are quite similar, what about their displays, though? Well, those are quite similar too. The OnePlus 11 does include a newer LTPO3 panel, compared to an LTPO2 panel on the OnePlus 10 Pro, though. The OnePlus 11 features a 6.7-inch QHD+ (3216 x 1440) Fluid AMOLED display. This panel is curved, and it can project up to 1 billion colors. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, has Dolby Vision support, and also supports HDR10+ content. This panel gets up to 1,300 nits of peak brightness, and it’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus.

The OnePlus 10 Pro, on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch QHD+ (3216 x 1440) Fluid AMOLED display too, but an LTPO2 panel. That display also supports up to 1 billion colors, has an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate, and supports HDR10+ content. It gets equally bright as the OnePlus 11’s display, and has the same aspect ratio (20:9). The Gorilla Glass Victus protects this display as well.

Does the LTPO3 vs LTPO2 change mean anything to you, as the user? Well, it’s always nice to have a newer panel, but both of these displays do look great. They offer vivid colors, with great viewing angles, and deep blacks. The touch response is also great, and they do get bright enough. The only situation you may have issues with is under the direct sunlight, in terms of great visibility. Both displays do get set at fullHD+ resolution, so you may want to change that if you want to take advantage of QHD+. Truth be said, however, almost nobody will notice the difference.

OnePlus 11 vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 fuels the OnePlus 11. The phone also includes up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage. The OnePlus 10 Pro, on the flip side, is fueled by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, and it includes up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and UFS 3.1 flash storage. The SoC, RAM, and storage boosts may push some of you to consider upgrading, to be quite honest.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is a considerably better SoC than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. That goes for power consumption as well, not just sheer performance. It’s more than a great follow-up to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The improved RAM and storage modules are also appreciated, that’s for sure. Those will give you some peace of mind as future-proofing components. There is also a benefit performance-wise.

They both perform great in day-to-day tasks, but some of you may notice an improvement with the OnePlus 11. The phone seems more consistent performance-wise. For example, it always launches the camera instantly when you call upon it. The OnePlus 10 Pro tended to skip a beat here and there. This is just one example, the point is, the performance is more consistent with the OnePlus 11.

Even when it comes to gaming, the OnePlus 11 is the better phone, which is not all that surprising. Both phones do get warm during longer gaming sessions, but we did not notice performance drop-offs because of that.

OnePlus 11 vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Battery

Both of these phones include a 5,000mAh battery. One might assume that considering the fact they have the same battery capacity, and the same display size, with the same resolution and refresh rate, that the two phones offer very similar battery life. Well, that’s not true at all. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 makes a big difference here, and its power consumption that we mentioned earlier. We’re sure that OnePlus’ optimizations had something to do with it as well.

The OnePlus 11 has outstanding battery life, while the OnePlus 10 Pro is just good in that regard. We’ve managed to cross the 10-hour screen-on-time mark a number of times during our review period. Even when some light gaming was thrown into the mix. The OnePlus 10 Pro also has good battery life, getting 7-8 hours of screen-on-time is not that much of a problem. The OnePlus 11 is definitely better in that regard, though, noticeably. Your mileage may vary, of course.

When it comes to charging, well, things are very interesting. The OnePlus 11 supports 100W (80W in the US) wired charging, while the OnePlus 10 Pro offers 80W (65W in the US) wired charging. What’s interesting is that the OnePlus 10 Pro also supports 50W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging, while the newer OnePlus 11 does not. Both phones do come with chargers in the box.

OnePlus 11 vs OnePlus 10 Pro: Cameras

The OnePlus 11 includes a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel ultrawide unit, and a 32-megapixel telephoto camera. The OnePlus 10 Pro has a 48-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and an 8-megapixel telephoto unit. How do they compare? Well, first and foremost, all of these camera sensors are different, so OnePlus changed basically everything.

Daylight shots from both cameras look very pleasing. They’re contrasty, but not oversaturated, and the white balance is also good. The OnePlus 11 did manage to balance the shots out better, overall, though. It also managed to focus and take the shot ever so slightly faster. Nighttime shots with the main camera are better with the OnePlus 11. The phone manages to balance those shots out really well, while keeping the highlights in check, even in demanding situations. The OnePlus 10 Pro is less consistent during the night.

The ultrawide camera on the OnePlus 10 Pro has a much wider field-of-view (150-degree vs 115-degree). You do get that fisheye effect, but still, it’s much wider. The OnePlus 11’s ultrawide camera does perform better in nighttime conditions, though. It manages to balance shots out a bit better, while making them more colorful, and less noisy at the same time. If you take a lot of telephoto pictures, the OnePlus 10 Pro may be the better choice, though we’re not exactly impressed with either telephoto camera. The OnePlus 11 offers only 2x optical zoom, while the OnePlus 10 Pro supports 3.3x optical zoom.

The video recording is improved on the OnePlus 11, but if you loved the 4K at 120fps on the OnePlus 10 Pro, you won’t get that on the OnePlus 11. It’s shame that was excluded. Overall, the OnePlus 11 is better for video recording, though.

Audio

Both of these phones do include a set of stereo speakers. Truth be said, we did not notice much of a difference between them. Both do sound good, the sound is loud enough, and detailed enough, but it’s nothing to write home about.

You will not find a 3.5mm headphone jack on either of these two devices. For wired audio connections you’ll need to use Type-C ports, one of which is available on each of these phones. If you prefer wireless audio, however, Bluetooth 5.3 is supported on the OnePlus 11, while the OnePlus 10 Pro comes with Bluetooth 5.2 support.
