Samsung Brings Galaxy S22 Launch To The Metaverse

Samsung is bringing its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2022 to the metaverse. Because, why not?

The company has recreated Samsung 837, its flagship experience center in New York City, within virtual reality platform Decentraland for metaverse fans to tune in to the big launch event tomorrow in a whole new way. The virtual space, which is called Samsung 837X for obvious reasons, is a fully immersive experience that will offer viewers quests and NFT prizes alongside the live event.

To enter, users will have to visit the Decentaland platform and sign in. If you don’t already have a Decentraland account, you can sign up using a MetaMask cryptocurrency wallet or sign in as a guest. With the former, you will get the full experience while as a guest, you can only explore the virtual space and watch the event. You will not be able to participate in quests and subsequently, win NFT prizes.

Once you have signed in, your virtual avatar will be dropped right outside Samsung 837X. You can then enter the virtual building and immerse yourself in the metaverse.

Samsung jumps on the metaverse bandwagon

The metaverse craze continues to grow even when many think it’s just a gimmick. Several big companies like Facebook, Apple, Google, Disney, and Microsoft are investing heavily in this virtual world. Samsung is now jumping on the bandwagon too, allowing fans to enjoy its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in the metaverse.

This comes as a surprise though. Samsung hasn’t been as active in the virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) space recently as it was a few years back. Perhaps the company doesn’t want to miss out on the latest craze for the metaverse.

Live streaming of the event may also be available on Twitter, Reddit, and other popular online platforms.
