Samsung Mobile Chief Hyping Up Galaxy S10 As Competition Intensifies

Samsung’s mobile chief, Koh Dong-jin, said the company is trying its best to meet consumer expectations moving forward, particularly on the smartphone front that’s now causing it more headaches than usual seeing how all of its premium 2018 lineups such as the Galaxy S9 range sold below internal projections.

Mr. Koh was quite careful not to confirm any products launches while talking to The Investor, he was quite brief, and even though he did not confirm the arrival of the foldable phone for February 20, it’s quite possible that the device will launch at that event. The Galaxy S10 series will, for sure, be presented on February 20, though it remains to be seen if all four devices will make it, or only three of those that are rumored, more on that later.

Ther CEO will be joined in San Francisco on February 20 by Roh Tae-moon, a man who oversees the smartphone development unit of Samsung Mobile, and also Choi Seung-eun, the company’s marketing chief as of late last year.

What’s coming next month? What’s not?

Samsung will definitely launch its Galaxy S10 series of smartphones, and even though we’re expecting four devices to be announced, thanks to rumors, that number could be lower. The company is expected to introduce the Galaxy S10 E, S10, S10+, and S10 X.

The Galaxy S10 E is essentially the S10 Lite with a different name, but unlike past iterations of the “Lite” model, Samsung is actually planning to include the same processor in this phone as in all other Galaxy S10 models, probably not to water down the brand. That device will sport a 5.8-inch fullHD+ display, according to rumors, and that panel will be flat. The phone is also rumored to include a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and two cameras on the back.

The Galaxy S10 and S10+ are both said to sport three cameras on the back, the Galaxy S10 will include one camera on the front, while the S10+ is expected to sport two selfie cameras. Both phones will be made out of metal, just like the Galaxy S10 E, but will include an in-display fingerprint scanner, and curved displays. The Galaxy S10 is rumored to sport a 6.1-inch panel, while the Galaxy S10+ will probably ship with a 6.4-inch panel. Both smartphones will include QHD+ Super AMOLED displays, it seems.

The Galaxy S10 X is basically rumored to be the most powerful variant of the Galaxy S10+, but with a ceramic backplate. That phone will include a 6.7-inch QHD+ curved display, according to rumors, and a whopping 12GB of RAM. An in-display fingerprint scanner will also be included here, as will 5G support, not to mention that the phone is also rumored to sport four cameras on the back, though that part may be exaggerated.

Take all of this info with a grain of salt, as we’ve seen a ton of rumors regarding the Galaxy S10 series, and the provided info may be a bit off, we’ll just have to wait and see what will Samsung announce on February 20. Now, in addition to the Galaxy S10 series, the company’s foldable smartphone will probably make an appearance as well, and based on what we’ve seen at Samsung’s developer’s conference last year, it will fold right down the middle, and it will fold inwards, as a secondary display will be included on the back. The phone is rumored to cost $1,700, and it’s likely to hit the store shelves all over the world by mid-March.
