Samsung Release Homescreen Widgets for Galaxy Buds

Samsung has released widgets to aid hands-free use of Galaxy Buds/Buds+. The aim is to make controlling your wireless audio even easier than before as reported by 9to5. This was first spotted on Reddit and found the new widgets can be added to the homescreen. Samsung has recently offered Galaxy Buds+ in a range of new colours meaning this comes as another upgrade to the offering.

Update Prevents Touchpad Frustration

When the Galaxy Buds first came out there was a lot of frustration at the way its touchpad operated. Users found it difficult to use so any way to avoid this will be great news to many. Although the Galaxy Buds+ did improve on sound quality and user interface this update will still come as a welcome addition.

To access this new interface you need to update the dedicated plugins for each pair of Samsung earbuds. This will allow you to add widgets to the homescreen controls on your device. Therefore, you can access advanced setting without having to use your wearable each time. This makes using you Galaxy Buds much more user friendly and efficient.

The new widgets offer you six new functions to add to your homescreen. These include Ambient sound, quickly check connection and battery status. Another addition is the ability to lock the touchpad through one of these widgets. Samsung has also thought of those who wish to have a Dark Theme as an option. You can choose different levels of opacity depending on the theme of your device so they match.

A Small Step Forwards

These new homescreen widgets do not add any more functionality to the Galaxy Buds so this cannot be seen as a huge change. However, it is worth giving this credit as a nice little upgrade from Samsung. The update does appear to be something that will be useful to most people. It will either give people a little more efficient in their use of their Galaxy Buds. Or else it will end people needing to use the often frustrating touchpads.

However, it is just worth noting that not all users seem to be able to access the new widgets. The original Reddit thread has found that the update is no available to all users as posters have commented. Despite this, if the update can be rolled out to all then it should be a useful addition to the wearable audio from Samsung.
