Secret Stuff Mark Wahlberg and the ‘Mile 22’ Cast Learned While Making the Movie
Mile 22 — directed by Peter Berg and starring Mark Wahlberg, Ronda Rousey, Iko Uwais, Lauren Cohan and John Malkovich — hits UK screens today. The film’s official synopsis is as follows…
An elite American intelligence officer, aided by a top-secret tactical command unit, tries to smuggle a mysterious police officer with sensitive information out of the country.
FANDOM has been talking to the film’s stars about trying to get information out of the CIA while making the movie. And what they discovered both shocked and surprised the cast.
In the above video, Mark Wahlberg talks about struggling to get access to agents, with the actors visiting the American Embassy in Colombia, but failing to get into certain rooms.
“Thankfully our writer has had a lot of experience with the CIA, Ground Branch, Overwatch, organisations like that,” Wahlberg explains. “So when we went to the embassy in Bogota, we were like, ‘Oh, wow, now we’ll get to meet some guys who are out in the field’ and it was like, ‘No, not happening.’ But we had a couple of consultants who were involved with the CIA to some extent or another. All very unassuming guys.”
Ronda Rousey says it was exciting being near that embassy building and not knowing which people were the elite U.S. agents, but being aware that they were all around.
Lauren Cohan talks about learning how to disappear as part of her preparation for the film, The Walking Dead actress revealing that the cast was taught about agents who are ready for anything at any time.
And Peter Berg discusses the power of hacking, explaining “As technology continues to develop, a well-trained hacker can get into anything, whether it’s traffic light controls, power grid controls, eavesdropping, tracking, activating and shutting down car engines. There’s really no limit to what can be done with technology.”
Mile 22 is in UK cinemas today.
