Stream Your Way To Flavor Town With Discovery+ Starting Next Year

Discovery Inc. is entering the streaming market with a new service called Discovery+, which will let you stream TV shows and content from its library of popular networks.

This includes The Food Network where you can watch anything from Guy Fieri and stream your way to Flavor Town anytime you want. Not just when The Food Network decides to air his shows.

The new Discovery+ service will open up stream access beginning on January 4. So just after the new year you’ll have one more streaming service to choose from. Assuming you don’t already subscribe to any, are looking to set one up, and/or don’t mind adding another subscription.

Stream shows from HGTV, Travel Channel & more with Discovery+

With the onslaught of Discovery+ TV watchers will have more content than ever before to stream directly to their devices. This is a double-edged sword as you’ll have one more service you have to pay for if you want access to that content.

But on the other side of things it also means there’s one less reason to pay for cable or live TV of any kind. With Discovery+ you’ll be able to stream shows from HGTV, Travel Channel, TLC, The Food Network, Discovery Channel (naturally), Animal Planet and others.

This is a wealth of shows across different genres of content. All at your fingertips and you can watch it as much as you want. Any time. Without having to put anything on a DVR just in case you missed it during its initial airing.

In addition to the network content that already plays on cable and live TV, Discovery+ will have its own collection of original content being added too. This will be available at some point in 2021, with shows that star Bobby Flay, Duff Goldman, Michael Urie, Martha Stewart and more.

There are two plans to choose from

Once the service launches on January 4, you will have two plans to pick from if you’re interested in signing up.

One of course has ads, while the other is ad-free. Neither plan is particularly expensive though. At least when compared to other streaming services. You can opt for the ad-supported version for $4.99. And if you decide you don’t want ads, you can pick the ad-free version for $6.99.

That’s on par with services like Crunchyroll, but well below the cost of services like HBO Max or Netflix. HBO Max is $14.99 a month, while the Netflix HD option is now $13.99 a month. Arguably those two services may have more content to choose from with a wider variety of genres.

But if you like the content Discovery already offers, this might be something to consider. Discovery+ is already available in the UK and Ireland, and will be accessible from smartphones as well as PCs, tablets, game consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X, and on smart TVs.
