The Just Cause Franchise Is Coming To Android & iOS In 2021

Square Enix is bringing its Just Cause franchise to Android and iOS devices in the near future. Why? Just cause.

If you’ve never played a Just Cause game before, it’s a third-person action adventure franchise. Generally with a big open world for the player to explore and all kinds of crazy things you’re able to do. The mobile title won’t necessarily be the same in that respect. But it is still an action adventure title and will be played in third-person.

It has multiple modes of play too. With both single player and multiplayer content that will be available to keep things fresh and the players engaged.

Just Cause for Android will feature single player and multiplayer co-op

It won’t just be Android actually. Just Cause: Mobile on Android and iOS will both have single player and multiplayer co-op gameplay modes. Though not necessarily crossplay.

The co-op will support up to 4 players for online play. It’s not clear if the co-op will take players through the same missions of the campaign as the single player, though.

If this were a game like Borderlands, Borderlands 2, or Borderlands 3, you’d be able to team up with friends and play through the campaign together just as if you were playing by yourself. But Square Enix doesn’t necessarily mention if that’s how the co-op in Just Cause Mobile will work.

Having said that, the game’s landing page says there will be an “action-packed story campaign” and co-op missions. Which sounds more like they will be separate from each other.

It also doesn’t talk in great detail about the PvP gameplay. It does however state that the PvP mode will feature 30 players to a match. So PvP will be sort of like a smaller version of most battle royale games out there.

The game is free-to-play and will have in-game purchases

Although there are a fair amount of Square Enix games on Android that do cost money, this won’t be one of them. This will be a free-to-play title and Square Enix will monetize it with in-game purchases.

They probably won’t be too heavy handed as SE tends to be pretty middle of the road with that on most of its free games, but there’s no way to know for now.

Still, if you’re interested in playing Just Cause on your phone, look out for this to drop because it may very well be a fun mobile gaming experience. You can also check out the trailer below.
