The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross Reaches 3 Million Global Downloads

Last week Netmarble launched The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross and in just a week it reached over 3 million downloads globally.

The game is based on the Netflix original anime, which itself is based on the manga ‘Nanatsu no Taizai’ (The Seven Deadly Sins). So it was safe to assume that it would get a hefty following of players showing interest in its release.

By comparison with games like Call of Duty Mobile, which was downloaded 100 million times globally within a week, The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross doesn’t have nearly the same pull with gamers. But, Call of Duty has been the best selling game in the industry for many years. So it was set up from the beginning to be a success.

That also doesn’t mean that SDS is any less successful. It blew past its pre-registration goals. And the growing popularity of anime in recent years likely played anything but a small role in that.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross is #2 for downloads in the US

According to Netmarble the game is listed as the number two downloaded game in the US on both Google Play and the App Store.

It’s also number two on that list in France and Germany. And it even reached number one on the Top Grossing Apps list in France. How long it remains there is unclear, but what is clear is that players were eager to give the game a try.

Any anime fan should be really. Because the game is extremely well done and it has a nice blend of both RPG gameplay and cinematic experiences. At times it feels like you’re watching the show and at others ripping the characters from the screen and playing as them in a game.
