The Tomahawk Is A Modular Desktop Gaming PC From Razer

Razer announced a few new products yesterday evening at its Razer Store Live virtual event, one of those being the Hammerhead True Wireless Pro, as well as a roll-top backpack, and this, the Tomahawk, which is a modular desktop gaming PC in a small formfactor.

Razer actually teased this gaming PC back at CES 2020 in January. But there was nary a peep about the fabled Razer Tomahawk gaming PC since then. Until last night’s live stream.

If the design looks familiar, it should. Because it’s sort of a blend of the recently released Razer Tomahawk PC cases, and the Razer Core desktop graphics dock. The difference being that this is a fully modular PC.

Razer was able to keep the size of this machine small because it’s built on Intel’s NUC hardware. Specifically it comes with the Intel NUC 9 Extreme Compute Element card. Which houses the CPU, the RAM, and the storage drives.

The Razer Tomahawk Gaming PC can come with an NVIDIA RTX 3080

While the base model of the Tomahawk doesn’t come with a GPU at all (you slot in your own GPU), it can come with up to an NVIDIA RTX 3080. Which of course means it’s going to be a pricey machine.

While the Tomahawk is listed as out of stock right now on Razer’s website, it is available for pre-order. So once there’s stock available anyone could pick it up. The model listed is priced at $3,639 though. Which is likely the top-tier model that comes with all the bells and whistles. The base model is priced at $2,399.

That’s the price you pay for power and convenience in a small package. In addition to the GPU or empty GPU slot, there’s an Intel Core i9-9980HK processor, a 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD and a 2TB HDD, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. There’s also a 750W power supply.

Everything is built on Razer’s sled system from the Core. So you can easily grab and pull on the handle on the back and access the inner components without issue. Razer is also using two 120mm fans that blow hot air out the top and pull cool air in from the side ventilation to keep the PC running as cool as possible.

A gaming desktop for any setting

Unsurprisingly, Razer’s signature Chroma RGB lighting is fitted at the underside of the base of this PC. Since the case is one giant piece of CNC milled aluminum with side ventilation and no glass though, the lighting is actually very understated.

The light only comes from the bottom and the Razer tri-snake logo on the front. So it should keep the RGB to a minimum if you want a little but don’t want to overdo it.

That being said if you have any other RGB components on the inside, like the RGB on your graphics card, that may shine through the side vents. But it’s probably not nearly as noticeable as it would be if your PC was housed inside something like the Tomahawk Mini-ITX case.

All-in-all this makes for a gaming desktop that fits well in just about any setting. If you’re eager to get your hands on one, it’s live now on Razer.com. You will however have to wait for Razer to restock.
