The Xbox Console Streaming Preview Is Hitting New Markets Today

If you have an Xbox and you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the console streaming preview, now’s your chance to do just that.

Microsoft is rolling out the console streaming preview for its Xbox One to additional markets. Which markets you ask? All of them. All the markets everywhere so anyone with an Xbox One can participate in the preview and check it out.

The only catch really is that it has to be a market where Xbox Live on Xbox One is officially supported. This includes the US where the preview was already live, but it also includes other countries like Argentina, Singapore, Slovakia, Norway and more.

When the preview started, it was only available in the US and in the UK. So if you live in an Xbox Live-officially supported country that isn’t one of those two, you should now have access.

The Xbox Console streaming preview has a few requirements

Now that new countries are supported for the preview, anyone interested will still need to meet a few requirements.

The first thing is that you need to be an Xbox Insider to participate at all. The other main requirement other than being in a supported country is that you need to be enrolled in an Xbox One Update Preview ring.

If you have all of that covered, then you can participate in the preview and stream your games from your console to another device, like a smartphone or tablet.

Only Android devices have support

Right now only Android devices have support for the preview. Beyond that, the limitations are pretty non-existent.

Your device does have to run on at least Android 6.0 or above. These days though, that’s the vast majority of Android users. The device you’re using also needs to support Bluetooth 4.0, and you need an Xbox One wireless controller that also supports Bluetooth.

This isn’t like the xCloud preview where you can use non-Xbox One controllers like the Razer Junglecat (which works fantastic by the way.) It’s also recommended to have a controller mount of some kind, but it’s not needed at all.

Since this is the console streaming preview, there is one big advantage over xCloud. That being the library of games. xCloud offers a pretty decent selection for being a free beta service. But the console streaming preview lets you stream games from your own console.

So you don’t just potentially have access to more games. Every one of those games are also likely ones you enjoy. Or at the least, enjoy more than what xCloud may have on offer.
