This Is Motorola’s Upcoming 5G Phone With 90Hz ‘Waterfall’ Display

A real-life image of an upcoming Motorola smartphone has just surfaced on XDA Developers. The source shared this image, claiming this a new 5G Motorola smartphone with a curved ‘Waterfall’ 90Hz display.

That display will also offer high refresh rate, claims the source. The display will be able to provide 90Hz refresh rate, it seems, as previously mentioned.

Motorola’s new phone will include 5G, and a 90Hz ‘Waterfall’ display

This leak allows you to take a look at the upper portion of the phone’s front side. So, you can see that the phone has a display camera hole in the top-left corner. That hole is not exactly tiny, but it’s not large either.

The phone’s corners will be rounded, as will its display corners. The display is obviously curved, though this image does not give out the whole picture. Considering this is a ‘Waterfall’ display, you can expect that curve to be quite pronounced. The source claims that the curved will not be as extreme as on the Vivo NEX 3 or the Mate 30 Pro.

We’d guess that the phone includes a ‘chin’ below the display, but we cannot confirm that, as it’s not shown in the provided image.

Now, Motorola is expected to announce one Snapdragon 765, and one Snapdragon 865 handset in the near future. In addition to the Moto G8, G8 Power, and G Stylus, which won’t be fueled by any of those chips.

The Snapdragon 765 handset is codenamed ‘racer 5G’ or ‘racer’, while the flagship-grade unit is codenamed ‘burton’ or ‘racer turbo’. Both of those phones will include the same display, claims the source. Both will feature a 6.67-inch fullHD+ 90Hz display.

The Snapdragon 765 unit will include 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. On top of that, it will feature a 48-megapixel camera on the back, and a 4,660mAh battery. NFC will be included, as will Android 10.

The company’s flagship will sport a 5,170mAh battery & Android 10

The flagship model will sport 8GB or 12GB of RAM, and a 5,170mAh battery. Android 10 will also be included, as will an NFC chip. We still do not know what to expect in terms of storage, cameras, or connectivity when it comes to this phone.

You may have heard of the ‘Motorola Edge+’ name recently. That is the name of the upcoming Motorola flagship, allegedly. Well, the ‘burton’ model will probably be sold under this name, at least in the US.

That branding has been confirmed by Evan Blass earlier this month. That is more or less all the information that we have on the two phones thus far.

Motorola is expected to announce its new flagship during MWC 2020 in Barcelona. So, at least one of the two phones will become official later this month, possibly both.
