Since Amazon announced Alexa about four years ago, in the original Echo, the world of voice assistants has definitely changed. Amazon was the first to put a voice assistant into a speaker. Before that, Google had Google Now, and Apple had Siri, which were both built into smartphones, but not into other products like speakers. Alexa changed that. And now you have the Google Home, HomePod and more. Amazon Alexa is not the best voice assistant – depending on what you want to do with your assistant – but it is still a really good assistant to use. Amazon Alexa is more aimed at controlling your smart home and being a smart home hub. But it can also do things like ordering pizza, finding you something to watch on TV and more.
One of our favorite Amazon Alexa-enabled speakers on this list is the Sonos Beam. That is because it is a sound bar that also has Amazon Alexa built-in. This is going to allow you to control your TV and other things using your voice. The Beam is able to control your TV using Alexa because it uses HDMI-ARC, instead of a normal HDMI cable. So you can ask Alexa to turn on your TV, or ask her to find something to watch on Netflix. Now to mention the fact that the Sonos Beam does also have some really great audio. Though that was expected, since this is a Sonos speaker.
All of the Amazon Alexa-enabled speakers below are really good options. These range from pretty cheap options around $30, all the way up to around $399 on the Sonos Beam. So there is definitely something there for everyone. Whether you want a speaker that can play music, or something that can also be a sound bar and bring better audio to your TV.
The Polk Audio Command Sound Bar is a good option for adding Alexa to your home. Essentially it is a soundbar with an Amazon Echo Dot built into the middle of the soundbar. But this means that you are able to ask Alexa questions, tell her to play music and so forth, without having to turn on the TV, which is nice.
The Ultimate Ears BLAST is one of the few portable Alexa-powered speakers out there, and it does also provide some great audio here. The BLAST is a 360-degree speaker that is also waterproof, which makes it a great speaker to take out to the pool or the beach and have some fun this summer.
The second generation Echo Dot is a great Alexa speaker to pick up as well, even though there’s not much speaker inside. It is a pretty small speaker, but also pretty cheap, at under $50. This is going to allow you to bring Alexa into all of your rooms, which is really nice.
The Sonos One is heralded as one of the best sounding Alexa-enabled speakers out there. That shouldn’t be a surprise given how good the audio is from Sonos speakers anyways. The Sonos One has Alexa built-in, and it works just like an Echo. So you can ask Alexa to do different things, including playing music, controlling your smart home products and much more.
This is the second-generation Amazon Echo, which is a bit smaller, but provides even better audio. It also has better smart home control, so it’s a great upgrade over the original. Amazon is also selling this Echo in a variety of colors and fabrics on the outside of the Echo. Which gives it a rather unique look.
The Eufy Genie is made by Anker, and it’s a smaller and cheaper Echo Dot. The audio from it isn’t that great, but any speaker this size won’t provide you with great audio anyways. This is more for putting Alexa into every room in your home, and the Eufy Genie can do that just fine. There’s no Bluetooth here, so you can only stream over WiFi, and can’t connect another speaker to it.
The Sonos Beam is a good option for those that want Amazon Alexa in their home, but are also looking for a nice soundbar for their TV. The Beam does both. It’s a smaller soundbar than the PLAYBAR from the company, but it still offers some great audio, and there is also Alexa built-in.
Now if you’re looking for a really cool looking speaker, Harman Kardon has you covered with the Allure. This one does have Alexa built-in, and it’s a rather big speaker. But that means that it’s going to output a ton of sound. Since it’s a Harman Kardon speaker, you can expect that signature Harman Kardon sound here.
Technically this isn’t a speaker, but it does have Alexa built-in and works like an Echo device. But it is actually a set-top box. So you can hook this up to your TV and watch all sorts of content, including Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix and so much more.
