8Bitdo SN30 Pro

The 8Bitdo SN30 Pro is perfect not only for those that love retro games but really anyone who plays modern games and just loves a controller with a retro look and feel.

The style of the controller is almost identical to that of an original SNES controller, save for a couple elements.

First, it has dual joysticks so that you can easily play games where these might be more beneficial than a d-pad. Like PUBG MOBILE for example.

The controller also has left and right trigger and bumper buttons. So you get two extra buttons here on the top that the SNES controller never had. In addition to connecting to Android phones via Bluetooth, it can also be connected to Android phones and tablets through USB C.

The USB C connection works for Windows and Mac computers as well. And, it’s compatible with Steam and the Nintendo Switch, too. Overall it has some pretty wide compatibility, which makes it one of the best Android game controllers on the market and on this list.

One other notable feature is the battery life. It takes about an hour or two to charge up. But it’ll last you up to 20 hours of gameplay before you need to recharge it.

If you’re looking for a more modern and functional controller setup, you may want to consider the Glap controller.

Not only does it have all the buttons you’re probably used to but it holds your phone as well. With the Glap controller you won’t have to prop your phone up in front of you. And this is a controller you can easily use in situations where you wouldn’t have the opportunity to do so. Such as on public transit or in the car.

The Glap controller supports multiple types of phones of varying sizes. Whether you’ve got a 5-inch device from a couple of years ago or a newer device like the Galaxy S10+, it’ll fit inside of the Glap controller.

Want to switch from playing games on your phone to playing them on your PC? No problem. The Glap controller supports that too. You just need to plug the controller into your PC’s USB port.

Additionally, you could play PC games wirelessly instead by using the Steam Link app. This way you don’t have to plug the controller in and you can still play games from your PC game library.

You get a travel case with the controller too, so you can keep it stored and protected during travel when it’s not in use.

HyperX ChargePlay Clutch for Mobile

So this isn’t really a controller, at least not in the same sense as the others on this list. The HyperX ChargePlay Clutch for Mobile is more of a grip in the controller style.

But because it’s in the controller style, we’ve included it. It lets you play mobile games with the comfort of a mobile controller but still allows you to use the touchscreen controls.

For some games the touchscreen controls are better than the feeling of the mapped controls to a set of physical buttons. But clawing the phone doesn’t always feel comfortable after longer play sessions.

That is precisely where the ChargePlay Clutch for Mobile comes in very handy.

On top of all of that, it acts as an actual charger for your phone while you play. There are two ways to charge the phone while you’re using this. Either through the wireless charging pad that your phone sits on while clamped in, or through the traditional plugin method.

Of course your phone needs to support wireless charging for the Qi charger to work. If not you can still just plug it in with a cable. Once you’re done playing you can even use the removable battery pack to charge your device.

Xbox Wireless Controller

Xbox Wireless Controller

Xbox Wireless Controller

This option isn’t technically a mobile controller but because you can connect it to your mobile device for wireless play, it deserves a spot on our best android game controllers list.

It’s also one of the best controllers period, so it’s a win/win. The Xbox Wireless controller is a versatile piece of equipment that works with Android smartphones and tablets, as well as PCs, and of course the Xbox One console.

If you’re use to playing on an Xbox when you do play on console, then this might the best controller option for you. Because it’ll be familiar. You’ll know how much travel each button has. You’ll know the weight.

The only change in weight really could come from attaching a clamp to the controller so you can hold your phone in front of you while playing. Even then, the controller should still feel good when holding it because it’s your main console controller.

Of course if you need to plug it in you can. You just need the USB cable to do so and then you can plug it in for play on PC. Even if you don’t own an Xbox, this is a really good controller option for PC and mobile, or just mobile.

It’s also cheaper than something like the Glap controller so you get a versatile, quality-made controller that costs about half as much.

Razer Raiju Mobile

Razer Raiju Mobile

Razer Raiju Mobile

Razer has been making mobile controllers for a little while, and one of its best is the Raiju Mobile. It’s also one of the more worthy Android controllers on our best list.

The Raiju Mobile takes the popular Raiju gamepad that Razer makes for consoles like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and gives it some mobile-centric features.

One of those being the built-in phone clamp that lets you prop your phone up in front of your face so you can easily play with the screen close to you.

That clamp also comes with a 60-degree tilt. Meaning you can adjust the angle of your phone for the perfect viewing. The Raiju Mobile is built for wireless gameplay. So it works on Bluetooth and will connect to your device this way.

However, you can also plug it in with a USB C cable and play this way too. Making it usable for PC play as well.

While this does work for proper mobile games, it’s also certified for use with GeForce NOW. And it’s probably one of the better controllers for that particular service. The Raiju Mobile is a bit more expensive, but it’ll be worth it if you want a controller that is about the same size as one you’d find for a console.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Razer is on this list again because they make some pretty great peripherals for gaming.

The Razer Junglecat is a perfect example of this because of its dedicated mobile focus but versatility for use with other platforms such as PC. It takes a different approach with the way it holds your phone, but it does still hold your phone. So long as it’s one of the three that are supported for this particular function.

The one downside is that it only supports three phones. The Galaxy S10+, the Galaxy Note 10, and the Razer Phone 2. Beyond that it can be used without the Nintendo Switch-style setup via Bluetooth with really any Android phone.

It’s more compact than the Raiju Mobile making it easier to carry around with you. Plus it doesn’t cost as much. Being that it retails for $100 instead of $150. This will make it more accessible to more people. Without breaking the bank.

It features some really excellent, tactile buttons that feel good and seem to have some great response. You also get all the buttons you really need, with a d-pad, dual joysticks, start and select buttons, bumper and trigger buttons, and your four-button ABXY setup.

It works with GeForce NOW and xCloud too. So if you have access to either of those game streaming services, this controller can pull double duty for those in addition to your mobile gaming habits.
