Xiaomi 12S & 12S Pro Announced With Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, Sony + Leica Cameras

In addition to announcing the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, its new flagship, Xiaomi also announced the Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro handsets today. Those are also high-end smartphones, though they’re a bit different than the 12S Ultra.

The Xiaomi 12S & 12S Pro come with compelling cameras & Leica lenses

These two phones don’t exactly include a 1-inch camera sensor like the ‘Ultra’, but they do still have high-end specs, and Leica’s lenses + involvement. Their camera setups do look quite compelling, as do the phones in general.

The Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro look the same, basically, but they do differ in terms of size. They also look extremely similar to the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro, down to the outer camera setup design.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 fuels both of these smartphones, though a Dimensity 9000 variant of the 12S Pro has also been announced. RAM and storage combos differ between the two variants.

These two phones do not come with Surge P1 and Surge G1 chips like the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, in case you were wondering. Both phones are water and dust resistant, and both support 5G connectivity, while they also include stereo speakers. The Xiaomi 12S starts at CNY3,999 ($598) in China, while the Xiaomi 12S Pro starts at CNY4,699 ($702). Their price tags will be a bit higher once/if they launch globally.
