Xiaomi Pokes Fun At Huawei P30’s Price Tag To Promote The Mi 9

Xiaomi has opted to poke some fun at Huawei for its Huawei P30 price tags. The Huawei P30 and P30 Pro are quite expensive, and that is hardly a surprise considering that Huawei is now world’s second / third smartphone manufacturer, and it is keeping up with Samsung and Apple in terms of pricing.

Still, when Huawei announced its price tags for the P30 and P30 Pro, attendees’ reaction at the event was not all that great, though that was to be expected, nobody really acts overjoyed when it comes to these things.

That being said, Xiaomi has opted to troll Huawei on Facebook, as the company published a rather interesting post via its official “Mi” page. The company shared a picture in which it shows its Mi 9 flagship alongside the Huawei P30, while it also lists some specs for both phones. In addition to that, the company also laid out price tags for the two phones, the Mi 9 is priced at €499 (in Spain), while the P30 costs €799.

Along with that pictured, the company also wrote “At Xiaomi, we really believe in giving you amazing products at #HonestPrices” and “Do you think a flagship smartphone should cost you a fortune? #Mi9”, clearly calling out Huawei for its high price tags. Xiaomi was kind enough and listed the most affordable variants of the Mi 9 and P30 in the image, the difference would be even greater if it compared the Mi 9 with the entry-level P30 Pro variant.

As a reminder, the Huawei P30 comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and that model is priced at €799, and is the most affordable variant of the P30 series. The Huawei P30 Pro, on the other hand, comes in both 6GB and 8GB RAM flavors with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of storage. The 6GB RAM variant of the P30 Pro costs €899 and comes with 128GB of storage, while the 8GB RAM model is available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options. Those three variants of the phone are priced at €999, €1,099, and €1,249, respectively.

In its post, Xiaomi emphasizes that the Mi 9 has a larger display than the P30, that it is fueled by the Snapdragon 855, and that it has DxOMark’s highest video score of 99. The company also notes that unlike the P30, the Mi 9 has wireless charging, and we’re looking at 20W wireless charging here. The Huawei P30 Pro has wireless charging (though it’s not as far as Xiaomi’s), but Xiaomi opted to compared the Mi 9 to the P30, it’s all about marketing.

The bottom line is, both the Mi 9 and P30 are really compelling options, no matter how you look at it. These two phones are quite similar in terms of build, as they’re both curved on the back, and made out of metal and glass. The Huawei P30 is a bit smaller, though, as it sports a smaller display, but they’re both quite slippery. These two phones will compete for consumers in China, Europe, and all the other markets that the two companies opt to push these two devices, even though the Mi 9 is a considerably more affordable option.
