YouTube TV Now Offering Limited-Time Two-Week Free Trial

If you’re in the market for a new live TV streaming service then you can currently take advantage of an extended YouTube TV free trial.

As a general rule, most live TV streaming services offer a seven-day free trial (PlayStation Vue only offers five days) but right now YouTube TV is letting potential customers check out its service for a full fourteen-days.

According to the fine print, this offer went live on August 1 and will remain live until August 14. Therefore as long as you sign up by August 14 you should be covered for the two-weeks from that date.

Again, similar to other free trials, YouTube TV also does allow those on a free trial to add premium networks and access them during the free period as well. The fine print once more confirms this is the case with the extended free trial with the notable exception of Starz.

All in all this is not a bad way to see if YouTube TV is the right live TV streaming service for you. This is a service that is currently priced at $49.99 per month following a price increase that saw the price hiked up by as much as $15 per month for some customers. So in a sense, you are getting around $25 worth of free viewing if you take advantage of the deal – that’s without taking into consideration any premium networks you might add to the plan.

Overall YouTube TV is a good live TV streaming option. It is now available on a good number of devices and also allows up to six people to share an account. What’s more, each person will have access to their own personalized account and DVR, and speaking of the DVR, this is a cloud-based solution where YouTube TV offers unlimited recording potential. The one major caveat of this is that the recordings are only held for a maximum of nine-months.

While YouTube TV is no longer as affordable as it once was, what’s on offer with the service has increased along with the price. For example, YouTube has continually added new channels to the baseline package and this is in contrast to the likes of DIRECTV NOW (about to become known as “AT&T TV NOW“) who also raised its price in 2019 to the same $50 entry point. The difference being AT&T accompanied this price rise with a significant reduction in the number of channels.

If you are specifically interested in a solution that works well with Android TV, again YouTube TV is one of the better options. However, Hulu with Live TV is currently the live TV service in its ascendance and only this week announced it was finally bringing its live TV service to the Android TV platform. It is possible YouTube TV has now launched this extended free trial in an attempt to lure in the swarms of fleeing DIRECTV NOW subscribers before they end up in the hands of Hulu.
